Overview of sewage treatment methods and techniques in environmental engineering

The country has promulgated relevant environmental protection laws and regulations, and clearly stated that environmental protection work has become an important aspect of achieving sustainable development. Currently, various regions and cities in China are vigorously carrying out sewage treatment work, selecting corresponding sewage treatment methods and approaches based on local environmental characteristics. Through extensive engineering practice, several key points to consider when choosing sewage treatment methods and techniques have been summarized.

2.1 Chemical technology for sewage treatment
The adoption of this technology is to reasonably and scientifically add some chemical drugs (such as ozone, etc.) to the chemical composition of sewage, so that they can react with harmful substances in the sewage to release various toxic and harmful components, thereby achieving the ideal effect of purifying sewage.

2.2 Physical Technologies for Wastewater Treatment
Suitable for pollutants that are difficult to treat in terms of properties or volume, common methods include screening, interception, gravity separation, centrifugal separation, etc.

2.3 Biotechnology for sewage treatment
One is aerobic biological treatment technology (such as activated sludge process), and the other is anaerobic biological treatment technology. Taking the activated sludge process as an example, its principle is to continuously input air into wastewater, providing an ideal growth and reproduction environment for aerobic microorganisms. These microorganisms feed on organic matter, remove harmful organic substances from wastewater, and thus purify water quality.
